Getting to Know Lake Monticello! This vibrant neighborhood is divided into 12 sections, a 3,500 acre community with 4,635 lots and approx. 12,000 residents. Lake Monticello has become a popular destination for those who seek to live near Charlottesville, yet want a “country living ” flair. Located approx. 15 miles east of Charlottesville, the Lake Monticello neighborhood is centered around a 350-Acre manmade lake fed by approx. 200 springs with 22.5 miles of shoreline to enjoy. While access to the lake is restricted, property owners and tenants enjoy routine access, as do their family members and guests. The lake is ideal for recreational activities, including fishing, water skiing and boating in addition to the five beaches, marina with docks and a boat launching area.

There is a Home Owners Association in place and the fees include maintenance of the more than 60 miles of roads within the community, allow access to the 18-hole PGA golf course and clubhouse. In addition the fee helps to maintain numerous on-site amenities such as the lake, beaches, playgrounds with picnic areas, soccer, baseball & basketball fields, a salt-water outdoor swimming pool, clubhouse, tennis courts and more. The HOA Fee also covers the cost of a 24-hour private police department. The local Fire & Rescue Squad are located just outside the gates.
